Our Philosophy

At Vitality Physical Therapy, we are pleased to offer you a different experience. Our goal is to provide you with quality and individualized care without the hassles of using an insurance based system. Our model is advantageous for many reasons, including reduced time between injury and start of care and avoiding unnecessary medical visits, which ultimately leads to less health care spending and getting back to pre injury levels more quickly.

Unfortunately, insurance companies have difficult processes, preauthorizations, may not approve needed treatments, declining reimbursement rates, etc. that negatively impacts patient care. This has led to patients being with their physical therapist for short periods of time, use of care extenders such as using unlicensed personnel to deliver care, double booking, being scheduled between several therapists, etc., which reduces the quality of care provided to patients. Ultimately, this leads to suboptimal care and patients not making progress.

At Vitality Physical Therapy, you will always be treated one-on-one for one hour with a doctor of physical therapy for good continuity and quality of care. Your treatment will be tailored specifically to you and your goals, which will allow you to quickly return to doing the things you love.

Meet the Vitality Team

Kayla Kerek

Doctor of Physical Therapy

Dr. Kayla Kerek, Physical Therapist, earned her Bachelors of Kinesiology and Health from Miami University with a thematic sequence in developmental psychology and received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Walsh University. In 2019, she became a board-certified orthopaedic clinical specialist by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. She performs neurologic dry needling for pain management and sports rehabilitation.

Kayla believes in treating the whole person, providing compassionate care, and listening to the patient to understand what their goals are. She enjoys working with her patients to help them get back to doing the things they love. She loves empowering others to take charge of their health and wellness. She specializes in treating several musculoskeletal conditions including: shoulder pain, hip pain, labral tears, rotator cuff strain/tears, knee pain, low back pain, ankle sprains, plantar fasciitis, neck pain, cervical or lumbar radiculopathy, tendonitis/bursitis, tennis elbow, post-surgical conditions, and more.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, being outdoors, and going to the gym.

Maggie Ray

Doctor of Physical Therapy

Maggie attended the University of Toledo and achieved her Bachelor’s of Science degree in 2012 and her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2015. After working in outpatient physical therapy, Maggie completed an orthopedic residency with Next Gen Institute of physical therapy in 2018 and this led to her becoming a board-certified orthopaedic clinical specialist by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. She is also trained and certified in dry needling for pain, improving function, and sports rehabilitation.

Maggie is passionate about helping people achieve their mobility goals and returning to completing the activities they love. She makes individualized treatment plans based on the person’s overall goals, lifestyle, and presented impairments. She has much experience treating many musculoskeletal conditions and has a preference of treating low back pain, radicular pains, shoulder pain, and headaches.

In her free time, Maggie enjoys spending time with her husband and 3 children, swimming, going to the gym, and drawing.

How Can We Help You?

Our goal is to help you lead a healthy and active lifestyle. We are movement experts who improve quality of life through prescribed exercise, hands-on care, and patient education.

Ohio is a direct access state, meaning you can come straight to physical therapy without a referral. Your therapist is trained to determine if you are appropriate for physical therapy services or need a referral to another provider. Given your consent, we would be happy to communicate with other health care providers on your care.

New Patient Physical Therapy Evaluation

You will receive a thorough one hour evaluation to discover the root cause of your problem. We will ask you questions about your injury history and goals, perform an exam, evaluate and discuss the findings with you, and determine a plan of care. This session will include initial treatment and a home exercise program.

Physical Therapy Treatment

Treatment will be one hour and may include: therapeutic exercises, neuromuscular re-education/motor control training, education, manual techniques (hands on techniques), gait training, and dry needling. An important part of your rehabilitation is your home exercise program, which will be updated frequently to help you reach your goals .

Wellness and Fitness

If you're doing all the things you want to do and have no injuries or limitations, but want to improve your fitness then this session will benefit you. This session will include performing a movement assessment (how does your squat, deadlift, overhead reach look, etc.) and prescribing mobility exercises, strengthening, and/or motor control exercises to optimize your movement.
